What Custom Prompts Are
Custom prompts let you define how Memory Capsule processes captured conversation content. Instead of using the default summarization and tagging behavior, you can provide instructions that shape the output to match your specific workflow.
Why They Matter
Different workflows need different kinds of structured output. A software engineer might want memories summarized as bullet points with a code snippet preserved. A researcher might want a formal abstract format. Custom prompts give you the control to decide.
Possible Use Cases
- Summarize memories in a specific format (bullet points, numbered lists, TLDR)
- Always extract a key insight or one-line takeaway
- Generate tags using a specific vocabulary or taxonomy
- Extract action items from captured AI conversations
- Format technical content for a specific documentation style
How They Could Influence Output
When a custom prompt is set, Memory Capsule passes it as context during the processing step after capture. The resulting memory title, summary, and tag suggestions are shaped by your instructions rather than the defaults.
